"We know that the window is narrowing and various factors involved, not just the back issue, but further aspects," he commented.
"It's positive. We firmly believe that he will feature a major part. Ideally it's the first Test. Should that not happen, we'll adjust."
Past Concerns

He has a history of back injuries, with recurrences in several earlier campaigns leading to absences from multiple domestic campaigns in four years.
Cummins stated he would be bold in recovery efforts in his rehabilitation process to make the squad for the contest.
He mentioned that he did not know if Cummins had begun bowling as part of his recovery but conceded it was "becoming urgent" for him to be fit for the initial match.
Backup Options

The talented all-rounder was excluded lately from the national team for their ODI contests against India as a preventive step because of discomfort in his torso.
Bailey described it as a "minor" injury and mentioned that he'll feature in the domestic first-class competition, so will be "in a good place to be ready to bowl."
"We put so much time has gone into building out the plan for him to take part for the initial game as an all-rounder," Bailey explained.
"His involvement was limited to the starting games in any case. The way he swings the willow in shorter formats, should it hinder progress for 24 more hours, the choice was made to take a cautious route."
